Underhell Prologue - 2011

Cop - Apartment Ground Floor

Character traits: Neutral

After entering an apartment building, this policeman will direct the player towards the top floor of the building, indicating that someone is waiting for him.

Civilian - Apartment Top Floor

Character Traits: Annoyed

A character that you encounter in an apartment in the top floor of an apartment building. He can be heard complaining loudly that he is annoyed with the police for being careless with his furniture and for appropriating his apartment for use as a lookout spot after he called in a hostage situation nearby.

Hostage - Hospital

Character traits: Relieved, Thankful

After breaching the besieged hospital and clearing out the hostage-takers, the player encounters this hostage in the top floor of the hospital where they've barricaded themselves. The hostage calls out to the player not to shoot and informs him that the rest of the hostages have been moved elsewhere.

Hostages - Mall

While pursuing the armed men who took hostages in the hospital, the player learns that they have taken additional hostages in a mall they passed through. 

SWAT Unit - Mall

Character Traits: Neutral, Professional

After chasing the hostage-takers through the city subway system, the player is met by elements of SWAT who assist in rescuing the hostages in the mall.

SWAT Unit Delta 3 - Mall Underground Parking Garage

Character Traits: Stressed, Surprised, Professional

While clearing out the mall, the player recieves a call for backup from a beleaguered SWAT Unit being suppressed by the enemy force the player is chasing. The player links up with them and they fight their way further down into the parking garage.

Hostage - UDRC Facility

Character Traits: Nervous

After fighting his way through an enemy force in an underground research complex the player frees this hostage. He leads the player back to a biometric lock while giving vague exposition. While they move they get interrupted by reinforcements from the enemy force.

PMC Soldiers - UDRC Facility (Replaced)

Character Traits: Furious, Tense

In the original version of the mod I voiced two PMC's who argue with eachother after capturing the player near the end. These characters were later redone by other voice actors and replaced for variation.

SWAT Unit - UDRC Entrance

Character Traits: Horrified

After the events of the finale of the game, the player is found barely conscious in the middle of a massacre. The SWAT Officers are horrified at what they see and knock the player out when he is found, suspecting his involvement.

Cop - Interrogation Room

Character Traits: Furious, Vengeful, Hateful

After the player is brought in for questioning he is approached by a policeman who blames the player for the loss of innocent lives in the facility and verbally rakes him over the coals for it. He is then relieved by a government agent.

Judge - Unseen Courtroom (Cut)

Character Traits: Calm, Professional

After the events of the facility, the player is judged to life imprisonment in a maximum security prison. The verdict is read out loud by a Judge.

Flying Zulu Helicopter Crew and A.R.C. Command (Replaced)

Character Traits: Guard Crew - Jovial, Routine  - Pilots and Command: Professional, routine

During the end of the prologue, the player is brought to the maximum security facility and overhears dialogue between the crew transporting him there.

This segment was replaced with other actors when Chapter 1 was released and The prologue was bundled up with Chapter 1.

Guards and Inmates - Cell Block

Character Traits: Variable

The guards and the inmates can be heard talking among themselves the beginning of the game and the player can listen in on a random selection of conversations.

Evan - Dormitories East Wing

Character Traits: Relieved, Disappointed

Evan is one of the survivors you can randomly come across while exploring the facility. He is relieved to finally see a friendly face, but he quickly realises that the player is not part of an external rescue force.

Martin - Residential Area

Character traits: Afraid, unsure

Martin can be encountered in the Residential Area, where the heaviest concentration of undead can be found. He is alone, afraid and sure of nothing. The player can escort him back to the saferoom.

Donovan

Character traits: Sympatethic, Decisive

Donovan is one of the scientists working in the A.R.C. to find a cure to the infection spreading in the facility. The player meets him when he rescues him from captivity.

Interrogation Doctor

Character Traits: Professional, Concerned

As the player is interrogated his vital signs are monitored by a medical professional. He expresses concern about Jake Hawkfields deteriorating health as they progress.
